Searching for the Dot
Have you ever struggled trying to discover the will of God for your life or the will of God for some important decision that needs to be made? The winter adult Sunday School class is entitled “Searching for the Dot” and will be a practical “how to” discover the will of God. However, before getting into the “how to” we will need to spend a couple of lessons looking at God’s sovereign will, divine providence, mystery, contradiction, concurrence (confluence) and does man really have the freedom to make decisions. Many people have difficulty trying to find the will of God simply because they cannot make decisions period. So we will take a look at how to make decisions and hopefully discover that making decisions may not be as hard as some have made it out to be. Unfortunately, Christians have come up with methods to make decisions about finding God’s will that are unbiblical and causes one to say, “What were they thinking?” For example, “have you ever fleeced God?” Is fleecing God a proper way to discover His will? We will take a look. Bible teachers have approached finding the will of God from several perspectives. We will look at some of the most popular views for finding God’s will and point out their strengths and weaknesses. And then finally we will look at some principles necessary to properly discover God’s will. This will be an opportunity for lots of questions, discussions and relaying experiences on how God’s will has been discovered and worked out in our lives.

Christ in Genesis
Although comprised of sixty six books written by different authors over many centuries, the Bible as God's Word is a unified whole that tells a single story. It is the story told to a fallen world of salvation through a redeemer. Jesus of Nazareth identified himself as that redeemer and he taught his first disciples that the entirety of the Old Testament scriptures spoke about him. In this class we will explore ways in which the book of Genesis points forward to the coming of Christ and his salvation. The goals are (1) to see more deeply the glory of Christ, and to love him more deeply; (2) to grow in appreciating the unity of the Bible; (3) to grow in ability to read the Book of Genesis and other parts of the Old Testament for spiritual profit; and (4) to see how we ourselves fit into God's plan, in order better to empower us to serve God here and now.
