Philosophy of Christian Education
Philosophy
The LPC Christian Education ministry shall:
- Provide quality classes, groups and instruction that are inviting and open to visitors and members, meeting the needs of all age groups from nursery school through senior citizens.
- Equip people with a comprehensive knowledge of the Bible through knowledgeable, credible, well-trained, and effective teachers.
- Define, reinforce, and expand upon the fundamentals of the Reformed Christian faith and God's love consistent with the teachings of the PCA.
- Teach the principles of grace, faith, stewardship (time, talents, resources), the sufficiency of scripture, the practical application of Christian living in the world in which we live, and how to share our beliefs in a concise and clear manner.
- Emphasize community within the body of Christ while nurturing a personal relationship with the Lord through prayer, daily scripture reading, and a Godly testimony through lifestyle.
Commitment
In a world filled with competing philosophies and ideas concerning God, the meaning and purpose of life, the way to live in this world, and the way of salvation, we seek
to possess for ourselves and encourage in others the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16).
We affirm that this mindset is gained through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit and by means of instruction in the Scriptures, the inspired and infallible Word of God (1 Cor
2:10-16).
We therefore commit ourselves to make known among ourselves and to the world the universal, timeless and unchanging truths of God's Word. We seek to do that with accuracy, clarity, and insight, and to apply those truths to the issues and situations of our day.
Furthermore we commit ourselves to encourage one another to think, speak and act in accord with these truths in every aspect of life.
