How shall those who love the Lord show their love for Him in deeds? How shall believers give material expression of their love to their Savior when, in fact, He is perfect and needs nothing? The answer is that God provides the means for us to serve. The poor and needy are God's surrogates and we serve Him through them.
"Truly, I say to You, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." - Matthew 25:40
At LPC, the work of the Diaconate body is accomplished by three working committees: the Finance, Building and Grounds, and the Ministry of Mercy. The work of all three of these committees is vital to our ministry here.
- The Finance Committee oversees the planning of church budgets and also the disbursement of funds accordingly.
- The Building and Grounds Committee oversees the inside and outside of the church building and is responsible for handling repairs and upgrades.
- The Ministry of Mercy Committee oversees many different ministries throughout the year including:
- providing funds and food to those in need
- monthly Food From the Heart Dinners for the needy in our community
- Harvest Home Ministry which provides food baskets to those in need at Thanksgiving time
- College scholarship assistance
- Christmas Gift giving which provides gifts to children of families in need
- This committee acknowledges that these gifts could not be made possible without God's mercy and the generosity of His people.
