Women's
Weekend Seminary for Certificate in Women's Ministries
"A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."
Proverbs 31:30
Lansdale Presbyterian Church is a church committed
to encouraging
deeper knowledge of the Word of God, and deeper skills in applying it.
Dr. Diane Poythress, a member at Lansdale with a Ph.D. in Reformation
History and Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary, is
organizing a series of six weekends where women may receive a
Certificate in Women's Ministries. The instruction forms a
condensed version of a seminary curriculum. The weekends
are especially designed to equip the wives of pastors and future
pastors, but are open to all women.
These classes may also be taken for credit toward a Certificate in Women's Ministiries.
Registration is at the door. Questions contact Dr. Diane Poythress
215-885-7785 or RandJPoythress@juno.com."A
printable brochure can be downloaded.
Dr. McCartney's and Dr. Poythress's lecture notes from
the NT weekend October, 2005, are available at http://www.frame-poythress.org/Poythress_courses/WivesWeekendSeminary/WivesWeekendSeminary.htm.
Options
The following options are available:
1. Having never attended a weekend in person or long distance for
credit or non-credit, begin this weekend for credit or non-credit by
attending classes in person or by purchasing for long distance. Credit
toward a Certificate in Women's Ministries means attendance of all
classes during the 6 weekends, completion of all required readings, and
completion of an approved ministry project. Non-credit means you have
no homework and attend as many or few courses as you wish.
2. Having already attended a weekend in person or
long distance
for credit, continue this weekend for credit. You may do this if you
have already taken the New Testament weekend for credit and have
completed the required readings. Please bring your honors statement
that you have completed the required readings. You can not take this
weekend for credit unless the readings are completed.
3. Having already attended a weekend in person or
long distance
for credit, but not having finished the required readings, you may
attend for non-credit. Then after you have verified completion of the
readings from the previous weekend, the non-credit course attendance
may be changed to credit course attendance. So if you come not having
done the reading and attend for non-credit, then go home and finish the
homework from the New Testament and send in an honors verification, you
can have the non-credit course attendance changed to credit course
attendance. Obviously, it is to your advantage not to get behind and
have to do a lot of catch up work for credit towards the Certificate in
Women's Ministries.
Encouragement
Let me encourage you in your pursuit of God. 2
Peter 1:3 says, "His
divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory
and excellence." I pray for you and ask you to pray that God will equip
you and other sisters in Christ to fight the battle of faith with His
grace and power. Please feel free to ask questions. May God grant you
fruit and steadfast faith for His sake.
In Christ, Dr. Diane Poythress, randjpoythress@juno.com
